Help with Development of Flowering Plants
The flowering plants are also known as Angiospermae or Magnoliophyta. Angiosperms are the most diverse group of land plants. Flower is the characteristic feature of angiosperms which makes it different from other seed plants. The function of the flower is to ensure reproduction by fertilization of the ovule and development of fruit containing seeds. There are two kinds of reproductive cells produced by flowers Microspores and Megaspores. After fertilization highly coordinated growth and development starts and produce embryo from mitotic division of zygote, endosperm from mitotic division of triploid nucleus, integuments becomes seed coat and carpel becomes fruit tissue which encloses the seed. Angiosperm seed develops from double fertilization. Release of seeds from the fruit occurs by number of ways: Ingested by animals, through feces and wind. Seed carries out a process called germination, to make the embryo enclosed in the seed begins its growth. The embryo develops a root axis and a cotyledon.
