Photosynthesis is a process of making new organic matter by combining of carbon dioxide and water using solar energy. Oxygen is the by-product of photosynthesis. This process occurs in green plants, blue-green algae, and certain bacteria. Plants also known as autotrophs capture light energy to make their own food. Some light energy absorbed by chlorophyll is used to make ATP and rest is used to release electrons from H2O to carry out light reaction.
